内容简介：With the rapid growth of Web 2.0 and social media in the past decade, Social Computing have emerged as a young interdisciplinary research field. Enormous "big data" of social systems has been generated and analyzed. In this talk, I will first give a brief review of social computing field, with applications in multiple fields including marketing, politics, public administration, public health, social movements, cyber warfare, etc. Second, I will introduce my previous research on cyber-enabled social movements. Last, I will introduce the ongoing research of my group on semantic social networks, which aims to develop an efficient and effective method to model and analyze the semantic-level relations in social systems, through linking the data of social systems with Semantic Web datasets.

主讲人简介：QingpengZhang is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at City University of Hong Kong. He received the B.S. degree in Automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and the M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Systems and Industrial Engineering from The University of Arizona. Prior to joining CityU, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with The Tetherless World Constellation at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His research interests include social informatics and social computing, complex networks and systems, semantic social networks, and social machine.
